We work here with care.

Protecting the environment is a long-term responsibility

The Palmer Project is shaped by the conditions of the Chilkat Valley. Work begins with understanding the environment and continues with clear oversight as exploration moves forward.

Protecting the environment here is a long-term responsibility. Baseline studies, ongoing monitoring, and regulatory requirements guide how decisions are made at each stage of the project.

Understanding the Environment

Work at Palmer starts with building a clear picture of existing conditions.

Baseline studies and field work provide insight into water, wildlife, and seasonal patterns. This information is used to plan where work takes place, how it is carried out, and what areas require additional attention.

Environmental understanding is not static. Data continues to be collected over time to improve understanding of the site and support better decision-making as exploration progresses.

Environmental Review

Environmental review is part of day-to-day exploration.

As new information is collected, it is used to:

  • Identify potential risks early
  • Adjust activities based on actual site conditions
  • Refine how work is planned moving forward

This ongoing process helps ensure exploration is carried out with a clear understanding of the environment and within established regulatory expectations.

Environmental Baseline Data

Environmental baseline data collection has been ongoing at Palmer for 20+ years.

This work builds a detailed understanding of existing conditions and helps identify sensitive areas before work takes place. As exploration continues, programs may expand or shift to improve overall coverage of the site.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Climate and weather monitoring through long-term data collection
  • Water studies, including groundwater wells and surface water monitoring to understand movement and quality
  • Wildlife and habitat surveys, including fish and ecological observations

This information supports planning and helps identify potential impacts early.

Permits And Oversight

Exploration at Palmer is carried out under state and federal permits, with oversight from regulatory agencies.

These approvals define how work is conducted, including where activities take place, how they are managed, and what monitoring is required.

Key authorizations include:

  • Federal Plan of Operations for exploration drilling on BLM claims
  • State permits for data collection on State Mining Claims
  • Plan of Operations approval from the Trust Land Office on Mental Health Trust lands
  • Camp permits from the State of Alaska on private land

This framework ensures work meets established environmental and regulatory requirements at each stage.

Working Step By Step

The Palmer Project advances in stages.

Each phase builds on what is already known, using field observations, technical work, and ongoing review to guide what happens next. As new information is gathered, it is used to refine plans and improve how work is carried out.

Transparency

Work at Palmer is shared clearly and consistently.

This includes outlining what work is taking place, what stage the project is in, and how activities are progressing. Information is provided in plain language to support a clear understanding of how the project is evolving over time.
